How to Roll Back or Review Changes with Version History

Every time you save a change to an assistant (a new personality, an edited greeting, a swapped voice, updated instructions, and more), Sulus keeps a snapshot of the assistant as it existed before that change. Version History is where those snapshots live. It lets you see exactly what changed and when, and roll an assistant back to an earlier state without having to remember or manually redo every setting by hand.

This is the safety net for any change you make to an assistant. For example, if you changed your assistant's voice using the steps in How to Change Your Voice Assistant's Voice and decide you liked the previous voice better, you don't need to reopen the Personality dropdown or Advanced Editor and hunt for the old voice. You can restore the version from just before you made the change instead.

How to Open Version History

  1. Click on the assistant you want to review. This opens its edit screen.
  2. Click the three-dots () button to open its dropdown menu.
  3. From that dropdown, select Version history.

Menu Path

[Your Assistant] > ⋮ > Version history

What You'll See in the Panel

Selecting Version history opens a panel listing every saved version of the assistant, most recent first. The version currently live on the assistant is labeled Current at the top of the list. Each entry below it shows:

  • A timestamp showing when that version was saved (for example, Jun 15, 2026, 5:05 PM).
  • An internal version ID (for example, upd_1781561134229_0f8ata), mainly useful if you need to reference a specific version when contacting support.

Hovering over or looking next to any listed version (other than the current one) shows three icons for that version: a restore icon, a compare icon, and a view-details icon, covered below.

Restore (↩)

The left-pointing arrow icon restores the assistant to that version's saved state, based on how it behaves in the live portal. Selecting it is expected to bring that version's settings back as the assistant's current, active configuration.

⚠ Restoring Replaces Your Current Settings

Restoring an older version is expected to replace whatever the assistant's current settings are with that version's settings. If you're not sure the version you're looking at is the one you want, use Compare first (below) to see exactly what would change before restoring. We have not been able to confirm firsthand whether the portal shows a confirmation step or warning dialog before completing a restore, so treat the action as one that takes effect as soon as you select it unless the screen tells you otherwise, and compare first if there's any doubt.

Compare (⇄)

The two-opposite-arrows icon opens a comparison view, most likely between that version and the current version, showing what's different between the two. Use this before restoring anything if you want to confirm exactly which settings would change, rather than relying on the timestamp or version ID alone. We were not able to click through and confirm the exact layout of the comparison screen or whether it offers a choice of which two versions to compare, so treat the comparison screen's exact wording and options as unconfirmed until you've opened it yourself.

View Details (👁)

The eye icon opens the details of what changed when that specific version was saved, useful for figuring out, for instance, which team member changed a setting and when, without needing to restore or compare anything. As with the compare view, we were not able to click through to confirm the exact fields or wording shown on this screen, so treat its contents as unconfirmed until you've opened it yourself.

Using Version History After a Voice Change

If you followed How to Change Your Voice Assistant's Voice and want to undo a voice change specifically, Version History gives you a second way to do it: instead of reopening the Personality dropdown or Advanced Editor > AI Model > AI Configuration > Voice and re-selecting the old voice by hand, open Version History, use Compare to confirm the version from just before the voice change is the one you want, then use Restore on that version.

For Resellers

If you manage assistants on behalf of your own customers, Version History is available from within that customer's assistant record the same way. It's a fast way to confirm what changed (and who changed it, if the details view shows that) before deciding whether a rollback is the right fix, or whether the customer just needs a new change applied.
